Incident 14. At 17:55 DSRT Tavistock was called by the Police to assist a group who had become lost during a walk in Bellever Forest. The party consisted of an 84 year old lady, her daughter, two 7 year old children and a dog. An initial search party quickly located them just outside the woodland and escorted them to the RVP at Higher Cherrybrook Bridge car park. They were then transported back to their car at the northern end of the forest. Their intended short walk had turned into more of a trek. Luckily they were returned to their car just as torrential rain began, none the worse for their extended trip.
We work hard to promote Moorland Safety, and so a gentle reminder: During this time of unseasonal weather ensure that you have suitable clothing for all that can befall you, and carry means of navigation, for example a map and compass or GPS enabled device.
