Incident 16. Dartmoor SRT Tavistock was called by our sister team from Okehampton at 04:39, to assist them in a search on the north of Dartmoor. A serviceman had not returned from a solo navigation exercise and there were concerns for his welfare. We deployed two search parties from Meldon Dam car park, one to search the Red-a-Ven Brook valley and the other up Longstone Hill and over Okehampton Common to the summit of Yes Tor. Not long after the hill party had arrived at the Tor, two searching military personnel were encountered and as we separated they called to say that the subject of the search had just self-recovered to base and was fit and well. We were stood down and returned to our RVP at Meldon. A very good outcome.
