Incident 24. Our Team was called by the Police at 17:35 to assist with an incident at Gawton Gravity Hub near Bere Alston. Two hours before we received the call a 16 year old competitor in a downhill cycle race had hit a tree at speed and been catapulted from his bike and down a slope. Our first member was at the casualty site within 20 minutes and confirmed the subject had sustained trauma to his head as well as suspected neck and back injury. He was immobilised in a vacuum mattress and then stretchered through the woods to our RV point. He was monitored and kept warm in the vehicle until handed over to South West Ambulance personnel who arrived at 19:40. We wish the lad a speedy recovery.
