Incident 23. DSRT Tavistock was called by the police at 16:45 to assist SWAST with a casualty who was reported to have fallen and injured his left knee and back. In fact, he had been thrown from his horse and was reporting severe pain in his left leg and pain in his right leg.
We responded with our sister Team, NDSART and located the casualty quickly at Doe Tor. Some of the HART team were escorted there, and took over care of the casualty and administered some much needed pain relief.
Treatment took some time but the stretcher party was able to start evacuation at around 19:30. He was stretchered back to the RV and then had a short wait for a SWASfT ambulance to transport him to Hospital in Exeter. Team vehicles were back at base by 22:00.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery. It was good to work so well with NDSRT and the HART Team.
