31.08.2024 Injured male at Swelltor Quarry

Incident 34. The team was called by the Police at 10:54 to attend to a walker who had fallen at Swelltor Quarry, sustaining injuries to his ankle and wrist and a blow to his head. We were able to get to the incident site within 40 minutes along with paramedics from SWAST who tended the casualty. DSRT Tavistock team members prepared a stretcher, with a single line rope setup for security, to extract the casualty from the quarry and then carry him a short distance for evacuation by Devon Air Ambulance. We were supported by two members of Devon and Cornwall 4×4 Response who assisted with transporting team members to and from the incident site. A successful multi-agency operation.

The casualty was in good spirits and we wish him a speedy recovery.
