12.07.2025 Casualty evacuation, Foggintor Quarry

Incident 16. The team was called out at 15:08 to assist the Ambulance service in extracting an injured walker from Foggintor Quarry.  At that time some of the team were involved in rope rescue training so hastily packed up the kit and deployed directly there in our new Toyota Hilux, giving a lift to an Ambulance Officer for the last section of off-road track.  The Devon Air Ambulance was already on scene and had given pain relief and splinted the injured ankle.  The casualty had initially managed to get themselves up the rock steps at the quarry entrance, so ropes were not needed.  With support from two assistants the casualty was able to hobble to the helicopter from there without need of a stretcher.  The Air Ambulance departed at approximately 1600 hours and the team stood down.
