Incident 21. The team was called by the police at 17.10 to help locate an 85yr old male dog walker who lives with dementia, who had left Bedford Bridge a couple of hours earlier and failed to return. A National Police Air Service helicopter had already started an aerial search. A full team callout was initiated, with the first search party deployed to search the river bank path towards Gem Bridge. Just after the second search team had been deployed the gentleman’s wife returned to the RVP with her husband and dog. She had driven home and found him there, with no recollection of how he got there.
A good result for what could have been a very long search.
