5.10.2025 Injured walker, western slope of Ter Hill

Incident 24. Team members had just finished assisting with safety cover and checkpoint duty for the annual Abbots Way Walk when the Team was called by the Police at 13:28. South West Ambulance Service had requested assistance in dealing with a walker with a fractured leg in a remote location on the western side of Ter Hill. A small hasty party was deployed to the site to assess and stabilise the casualty, whilst others went toward Nun’s Cross Farm with full medical kit and stretcher, ready to deploy to Ter Hill. As our hasty party were en route a Devon Air Ambulance was seen landing next to the casualty site. The helicopter airlifted the casualty to hospital and our hasty party continued to the site, to check whether the other two walkers needed any assistance in getting off the Moor. We collected our runners from Whiteworks and returned to our RVP, standing down at 15:15.
