27.01.2026 Storm Chandra

Incident 2. On the 26th January a meeting of the Region’s Search & Rescue Teams was convened by Devon & Cornwall Police, to plan for a response to incidents that might result from the imminent storm. Early on Tuesday some teams deployed assets to the east of Exeter as flooding incidents developed. At 15:15 DSRT Tavistock deployed a Water Team of Swift Water and Flood Rescue Technicians to Fire Service HQ at Clyst St George to relieve the teams that had been operational during the day. The Search and Rescue control cell was closed at 20:00 as water levels had appeared to have stabilised, and DSRT Tavistock was stood down.

Incident 3. As the Water Team was returning home it was tasked to attend a new incident, where two elderly persons were stranded in floodwater. That incident was then resolved by Police and our Team was again stood down, returning to base around 21:30.
