The Tavistock team is looking for a Treasurer to assume the position after confirmation at the AGM on 25 March. The successful candidate will simultaneously become a trustee of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The position is voluntary, does not confer hill party status and is unpaid. The workload is estimated at about 20 hours per calendar month and would suit a retired person who wants to make a major contribution to the local community but we welcome applications from anyone who believes they can fulfil the requirement.

Outline role and responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of the DSRT Tavistock committee as a trustee.
  • Keep financial records up to date using Xero bookkeeping software (training available if needed).
  • Manage the charity’s bank accounts and day-to-day payments.
  • Provide financial reports and updates to the committee at monthly committee meetings.
  • Keep an eye on budgets, reserves in line with our reserves policy and cash flow, flagging any issues early.
  • Prepare the annual return for presentation at the AGM and ensure the charity meets its regulatory obligations with HMRC and the Charity Commission.

A full job description is available on request from chair@dsrt-tavistock.org.uk.

Applications (in the form of a CV highlighting relevant experience) are invited from interested parties and are to be submitted by 28 February. Candidates will be called forward for interview in the first 3 weeks in March. The successful candidate will require to be DBS cleared – this will be arranged by the team.

We look forward to hearing from you.
