Injured lady walker, south of Wistman‘s Wood

13th March At 14:00 DSRT Tavistock was called to assist a 72year old lady who had fallen and suffered a painful injury to her shoulder. Because of the pain she was unable to walk well and had become extremely cold. Our advance party located her on the track just south of Crockern Cottage, administered analgesia and got her into a Team LandRover. While she was warming a splint was applied to immobilise and support her arm and she was then driven down the track to the Two Bridges Hotel, where the family car was parked. She was handed over to the care of family members to transport her to Derriford Hospital, as no SWAST ambulances were available, due to high call numbers.
