02.04.2024 Despondent male, Two Bridges area.

Incident 17. The Police called DSRT Tavistock at 15:48 to assist in a search for a despondent male who was believed to be at high risk. One of our Team’s Search Dogs was quickly deployed as well as a Hill Party team. Further search parties were then deployed onto the moor in worsening weather conditions of heavy rain and thick mist. The subject of the search was located by the Search Dog Team within 50 minutes of deployment, and sadly they confirmed that he was deceased.

We recalled the majority of our members back to the RV point while a few escorted Police Officers and Ambulance personnel to the casualty location. At 19:45 a stretcher party was sent to recover the deceased from the moor, and the deployment was completed at 21:40. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

Once again we thank the Two Bridges Hotel for providing shelter, warmth and hot refreshments to our members between the two parts of this operation.
