03.06.2026 Missing male, Derriford

Incident 16. At 17:45 we were contacted by our partner team in Plymouth to assist them in a Police search for a 52 year old male missing from Derriford Hospital and who was believed to be at high risk. Members of both Teams were tasked to search various woodland and overgrown areas and industrial units near the hospital. DSRT Tavistock provided 27 searchers including three air-scenting Search Dog teams. The search was carried out in heavy rain and over very difficult terrain and was temporarily suspended at 22:15. Team vehicles returned to our base at 23:30. The search began again at 10:00 on Thursday morning and continued until 17:00. Following some information from the Thursday search a targeted search by another dog team located the missing man on Friday afternoon, sadly deceased. We send our condolences to the family.
