Incident 34. Our team was called at 12:37 to assist in the extraction of a male who had fallen from a tree into the river at the head of Lydford Gorge, sustaining an injury to his ankle. South West Ambulance personnel were already with him and had administered analgesia. Members of our rope cadre set up a rope system to ensure security of the stretcher prior to the casualty being carried up the steep slope. Team members then transferred him to the waiting SWAST Ambulance. It was a successful multi-agency response involving personnel from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, South West Ambulance Service Trust, HART, Devon Air Ambulance and ourselves.
